Soon after we got our first laser, I was learning to use the software and tried a little experiment: I typed out a name, drew a small circle to the left, and traced an outline around the whole thing. I set the laser to engrave the name at low power and cut the outline at full power. Then I loaded a piece of quarter-inch hard maple onto the bed and sent the job to the machine.
To my pleasant surprise, it worked beautifully. After finishing with tung oil, I added a split key ring through the hole and clipped on a lobster clasp. Just like that, I had a finished key chain.
We started making more, and they kept selling. We added new designs — custom names, fun sayings, heartwarming messages — and watched the collection grow. Today, we have entire spinners full of key chains in all shapes and styles, from “Grandma” and “Papa” to “Camping is my favourite season.” They’ve become one of our most popular items.
They’re available on our online store, and we’re always happy to take custom orders.
